Arm Lift

CONVENIENTLY LOCATED TO SERVE NEW YORK CITY AND POMONA

An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that offers a way to tighten and tone the appearance of upper arms with excess loose skin. If factors like aging and weight loss have left you with noticeably saggy and wrinkled skin around your upper arms, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Glassman
can restore their appearance by providing you with excellent results from your arm lift in NYC.

ARM LIFT OVERVIEW

After substantial weight loss, weight gain or simply from the effects of aging, skin on the upper arms can become inelastic, loose, and flabby. Arm lifts, also known as brachioplasty, remove that excess skin and fat. An incision is made to free the loose excess skin so that it can be excised. The remaining upper arm skin is then tightly stretched over the upper arm muscles to give the area a tighter and fitter appearance. Patients who have significant amounts of fat may want to consider combining the procedure with liposuction so that the upper arms have a sleeker, tighter, and more toned overall appearance.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR AN ARM LIFT?

The best candidates for an arm lift are healthy individuals who want to correct sagging skin in the upper arms after losing weight or due to factors like genetics and the natural aging process. Patients with pockets of excess stubborn arm fat are also ideal candidates. An arm lift is highly recommended for people who want to improve the arms’ overall appearance.

Since brachioplasty is a surgical procedure, it is best for people who are healthy enough to safely undergo surgery. Arm lift candidates must have a BMI of 30 or less; people with a BMI above 30 may be at a greater risk of infection and slower healing.

To prevent excessive bleeding and avoid prolonged healing, quit smoking for at least 4 to 6 weeks before and after the procedure. Avoid consuming alcoholic drinks at least 48 hours before and after an arm lift surgery.

The best candidates for an arm lift procedure are people with realistic expectations. Be sure to proceed with this procedure based on your needs and goals, not the influence of others.

THE PROCEDURE

A brachioplasty procedure will begin with administering anesthesia. Depending on the decision of the patient and Dr. Glassman during the consultation, local or general anesthesia may be used.

Once the anesthesia takes effect, Dr. Glassman will create incisions. He will then lift the skin, remove excess skin with a scalpel, and remove excess fat via liposuction, constructing a tighter appearance for the arms. Excess skin will also be removed. The exact surgical techniques used during the procedure will be discussed during the consultation.

Finally, the incisions will be closed with sutures and secured with skin tape. They will then be dressed appropriately.

ARM LIFT RECOVERY

After your arm lift surgery, you can expect to experience some swelling and bruising around the upper arms. The arms may be wrapped in compression garments to help manage any swelling that may occur and provide support. Any pain can be managed with medication. Patients will need around two to three weeks of recovery before they can resume most of their normal activities. Heavy lifting and more strenuous activity will need to be avoided for longer.

ARM LIFT COST

The cost of your arm lift in NYC will be based on the techniques used and the amount of work required to provide you with results that satisfy your needs. During your consultation, our team can let you know what the expected cost of your arm lift will be and go over the payment options we offer.
