The Facelift: Make Those Years Disappear!

Published on July 11, 2019

Does your face make you look older than you actually are? Are you bothered by an abundance of crow’s feet and laugh lines? Do you wish you could get rid of them somehow? To get rid of your age lines and wrinkles, consider a facelift.

A facelift is the perfect solution to rejuvenate your face. It can also treat sagging, jowls, a double chin, and a turkey neck. Once you get a facelift performed, your face will look much younger. You can also combine your facelift with other surgical procedures for enhanced results.

How Is a Facelift Performed?

At the start of a facelift, either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with IV sedation is administered. This will ensure that you are comfortable for the duration of the procedure and free of any pain.

A facelift requires Dr. Glassman to make an incision at your hairline that reaches around the front, bottom, and back of your ears and then back up to your hairline. An incision may also be made below the chin.

After these incisions are made, the skin is lifted from the underlying muscles. The underlying muscles may or may not be tightened with internal sutures as per Dr. Glassman’s discretion. The skin that was raised is redraped after removing the excess skin.

Sutures or staples are employed to close the incisions. Dr. Glassman may choose to place plastic tubes in order to drain the extra fluids resulting from the surgery. The area is then covered with bandages.

Are You Fit for a Facelift Surgery?

You are fit for a facelift surgery if:
• You don’t suffer from any medical conditions that can interfere with your healing.
• You have realistic expectations from the procedure.
• You are a non-smoker. Smoking may greatly amplify the side-effects that could be experienced due to the procedure.

How to Prepare for a Facelift

You can follow these steps in order to prepare for your facelift procedure:
• Do not take any anti-inflammatory drugs, as these may increase your chances of post-surgical bruising and swelling.
• Stop smoking in the weeks leading up to the surgery.
• If directed, apply certain products onto your skin to prepare for the surgery.
• Consult with Dr. Glassman for a medical evaluation.

The Results of a Facelift

The results of a facelift will begin to be apparent once the swelling and bruising subside. You will need to care of your face during this time and keep it protected from the sun. Leading a healthy lifestyle will hasten your recovery.

Once the results from the procedure are fully apparent, you will thank yourself for having undergone the treatment. Not only will your face look younger, it will also look more relaxed and rested.
